Go team!

These earrings were a collaborative effort between me, my CFF Darci and her father. He had small leftover bits of deer antler from the very lovely pens he makes of fancy woods and other materials (and very nicely gifted me two). My friend suggested the pieces could be made into earrings, so he drilled little holes in each.

Then my friend and I set to work with wire and beads, sifting through my (vast/ridiculous) supply for complementary beads. We wanted to make very simple earrings since the antler is really the star.

I think they turned out beautifully. And they're definitely unique. I'm reminded of earrings my parents got me made of porcupine quills, again embellished with just a couple beads. It's cool to think something pretty enough to make jewelry comes straight from nature.
